THE BRIEF

Dubai Airport, one of the busiest in the world, was undergoing significant growth and modernization. Part of that programme included the development of improved F&B zones with homegrown and differentiated dining options. The concept had to be compelling enough to be competitive in an urban environment as well as the ambition of the client is broad.

OUR APPROACH

The high-footfall venue was spacious and allowed us to showcase Dubai’s style and pan-Arab meets global melting pot at its best. We created Tranzeet – a high concept outlet that is an Arab take on an American Googie style diner. These West Coast 60s and 70s diners offered a style that is all sunshine and optimism and more synergistic to the nations in the Arabian Gulf that had that optimism in spades in a period of great growth or even birth. The innovative doppelganger menu takes beloved American diner faves and matches them with their Arabian equivalent. The Arab cookbook naturally has its own versions of pancakes, pizza and burgers and it’s a way of highlighting our commonalities and differences.

Tranzeet was developed for a global platform and intended to change the airport dining scene by offering a place to eat that is convenient but inspired. It offers a strong sense of place, comfort and charisma.

THE OUTCOME

A retro and nostalgic space that unifies cultures and offers up casual pan-Arab fare in a fun and cool space. It celebrates the very best of the region and gives international travellers some pop culture with their soda pop.
